For The Good Of The Chapter |
The Gandy was passed to RichW for all the work he does.
Veterans Day Reflection. I have sung in most of the Veterans Day Ceremonies since joining the Chorus. The best and the worst were at the National Cemetery though Friday's event at the National Guard Armory had the worst PA system and the longest program in my memory. It seemed the Proclamations would never end, yet in retrospect, I will never cross the Veterans Bridge again without noticing the flags placed in honor of those Proclaimed.
Paul's introductions over the years to God Bless America are moving with references to the Russian immigrant who wrote it and Kate Smith who popularized it. Today as the attendees rose to sing it with us, there was an old soldier wearing a Navy sweater having trouble getting up when two strangers rushed to assist. I took the photo below of the three of them and showed it to our Prez who remarked, "I wouldn't miss this day for the world." There were 20 of us there who felt the same way plus others who would have be there if it wasn't a work day. The Choo Choo Chorus - what a barbershopper's chapter! SteveW
